Kwa hiyo msingi wa Kiswahili ni sarufi na msamiati wa Kibantu pamoja na maneno mengi ya Kiarabu. Imekadiriwa ya kwamba karibu theluthi moja ya maneno ya Kiswahili yana asili ya Kiarabu.
